Date Event
05/21/2015 SEASON ENDS (Last Day of School)

East Side's Rookie League provides instructional tee ball for players who will be 4 years old on April 30, 2015. Teams meet each Saturday starting March 14, and the season ends May 16. Teams meet for 90 minutes and split time between practice drills and games. East Side provides uniforms, balls, bats, helmets and batting tees. Teams coordinate sizing and purchase of pants. Players provide their own gloves and shoes, and some bring their own bats, helmets and bat bags. Rookie registration begins January 1. Note: Players not yet age 5 on April 30, 2015 may not play up in Shetland.

In conjunction with the Braves moving to Cobb, they have volunteered to provide facility improvements to Fullers Park. The Braves' Field Director Ed Mangan recently visited the Pony/Colt Field to make some great improvements. Ed and his crews replaced the deteriorating safety nets, added infield mix, edged turfgrass, laser graded and rolled the infield and rebuilt the pitchers mound. Looks and plays great! Ed plans to return this summer to replace the infield turf. Thank you Ed and the Braves!

Demolition and construction of three new concession buildings is underway.  During construction we will operate concessions from a POD trailer.  With restrooms also gone, the county has provided porta-potties. We regret the inconvenience during this construction phase, but look forward to the new buildings.

The playground has been replaced and is much improved. Feedback from kids has been very positive.

East Side Baseball Concussion Policy

East Side Baseball Association (ESBA) recognizes that adolescent athletes are particularly vulnerable to the effects of concussions.
To comply with the passage of House Bill 284, and to ensure the ongoing safety of our youth athletes, ESBA has adopted the following protocols effective January 1, 2014:
  • Prior to the beginning of each athletic season, an informational sheet emphasizing the risks of concussions shall be distributed to the parents/guardians of all youth athletes.
  • Any youth athlete who participates in youth athletics and exhibits signs of a concussion must be removed from the game, practice, competition or tryout and be evaluated by a health care provider
  • Any youth athlete who is deemed by a health care provider as having sustained a concussion shall not be permitted to return to play until he/she receives clearance from a health care provider for a full or graduated return to play.
