Congratulations (again!!) 9U East Side Thunder!

The 9U East Side Thunder have just finished their Travel Season with an impressive 35-15 overall record.  This included 3 metro Atlanta Tournament Championships, 2 Runner-up trophies and in invitation to play in the Triple Crown National Championships in Myrtle Beach in July

Their most recent Tournament Championship was the coveted Smoltz-Grissom Wood Bat Classic.  Over the past 8 years, John Smoltz and Marquis Grissom lend their name to one of the largest tournaments in the country.  More than 100 teams travel to Atlanta to compete in the event.  As you can tell by the name, this is the tournament that lets the boys play like pros by only using wood bats.  The Thunder represented East Side with the only undefeated performance in the 9U group going 5-0 with victories or Homeplate Chilidogs, Tennessee Homers, East Cobb (twice) and finishing with a 9 inning 3-2 victory over Team Wilson to secure the title.  In addition to the giant team trophy, each boy received a wood bat trophy autographed by Smoltz and Grissom

Congratulations to all the boys: Andrew Ashmore, Chase Belcher, Chase Burks, Will Galloway, RJ Hall, Luke Manzo, Patrick McDonald, Andrew O'Brien, Alex Roth, Ryan Wesley, Taylor Wolf and Sam Yapkowitz

The 9U East Side Thunder are currently ranked in the Top 25 of the USSSA 9U National Power Ranking.
